Only to experience shattered dreams as one in a million reach the Olympics or the altair of their game receiving medals and big fat cheques. Rest of them just fade over in time and don’t they deserve a life of dignity?” says the father who has seen it in the eyes of those children in sport sweating it out under the scorching sun.”
His child’s teacher beautifully summed it, “What a child can learn in the field of sport cannot be learnt in any academics. It is only this interest in sport that makes the child different from the average ones. At least the sport teaches him to be a better individual in life, if not win any accolades.
This is the crux of the sports drama film LOVE ALL that is centered around Siddharth (Kay Kay Menon) who in his school days was a promising Badminton player with all sports-lover in the city looking at him as a future champion.
Destiny had different plans though, where an injury and inability to bear hefty treatment bills shatter his dreams to pursue Badminton professionally.
Siddharth is a changed man now that he is married and has a son in the 8th standard that he is transfered to Bhopal. This man is disgruntled by rejection and neglect from the people in power, so he turns into a bitter and aloof person; a far cry from what he used to be in his playing days.
His agony and resulting hatred for sports trickles down on his family and his son is forbidden to pursue sports, or for that matter any activity digressing him from the established path of studies. Believing that saving his son from sports is the only way to ensure a life of dignity and respect for him.
However, the circle of life brings him back again to the city he thought he would never return, to the people he thought he would never see, and to the sport, he thought he would never be a part again.
What is commendable is the simplicity of the man, his son and the small town of Bhopal. Kay Kay Menon is adorable at the over protective father and looks apt for the character who carries bitterness towards life and sports in particular. Sumit Arora as his friend and owner of the sports shop, Shriswara as his wife and Swastika Mukherjee as the school teacher are extremely convincing. Ark Jain who is the 8 year old son of Siddharth is truly the champion of the film Love All.
